Masterclass Concert Guitars
For the accomplished player seeking a collectible showpiece instrument, the Masterclass Concert delivers an astoundingly rich tonal palette with unique balance, sustain, and clarity. The figured myrtlewood back and sides offer astonishing clarity in the lows, mids, and highs – significant since most tonewoods tend to accent a specific tonal range. The Sitka spruce top lends a warm bass response with great projection, and produces a more open sound than the harder spruces. This fine instrument along with all other Masterclass, Exotic and Custom Sound Studio Series instruments are available exclusively in the USA through our Distinctive Dealers or internationally through our International Distributors.

The Breedlove Concert is the original Breedlove shape. It first appeared in 1992, and has been the best-selling Breedlove body shape ever since. Designed specifically for the fingerstylist to be well balanced, compact, and comfortable to play, it generates a wonderfully articulate range of tone with an ample low end that is never boomy, but always felt. The unique construction also allows the Concert to sing even at a full strum. If you’re a fingerstylist, or are seeking an instrument to use as vocal accompaniment, this is the shape for you. The Concert is engineered to provide exceptional sustain with a pronounced bass response, both of which can be achieved with a light touch. The graduated top works in harmony with the Breedlove Bridge Truss to provide an even response throughout the lows, mids, and highs, with sustain, and clear, concise, note-for-note projection.
Back and Side Woods
Myrtlewood, umbellularia californica, formerly oreodaphne californica, originates in the western United States in Northern California and Oregon. Myrtlewood offers a strong fundamental with a powerful voice. Similar to maple, it has a clear and bright voice with superb projection and sustain, and offers a full and balanced sound. A versatile non-traditional tonewood, it is a favorite for many styles of playing. Myrtle has very unique and widely varied figure – no two sets are alike. Coloration ranges from blonde to taupe.
Breedlove graduated tops contribute stunning balance from lows to highs. How? Graduated tops are slightly thicker on the treble side, balancing the higher energy treble frequencies with the lower energy bass frequencies traveling through the thinner bass side. The result: clearer, cleaner highs and stable, resonant lows. Because no two soundboards are exactly the same, Breedlove craftsmen evaluate each top for stiffness and density, and then graduate it accordingly. The amount of graduation is customized for each individual instrument. The top is sanded to the precise graduated thickness to achieve optimal flexibility and stiffness. This hands-on process is one of the major contributors to the Breedlove sound.
Breedlove Bridge Truss
The Breedlove Bridge Truss (BBT) reduces tension on the soundboard of the guitar, so the top wood is able to vibrate more freely, producing remarkable sustain, balance, and clarity. The BBT also allows for a thinner graduated top, thereby allowing Breedlove craftsmen to bring out the optimal sound from the top wood without sacrificing structural stability. Relieving much of the string tension from the bridge prevents “bridge belly,” ensuring top stability for decades. Guitar strings can exert up to 230 pounds of pull from the nut to the bridge. Traditional methods for preventing top bowing at the bridge usually involve heavy internal bracing and thicker tops. The BBT compensates for this pressure in an innovative way: The BBT is mounted to the bridge from the inside and is connected into the tail block of the guitar, pulling downward on the underside of the bridge to distribute some of the tension, relieving pressure on the top. The resulting tonal effect on BBT-equipped guitars is more resonance and livelier sound with enhanced overtones.
Breedlove guitar necks feature a slimmer neck profile, which enables comfortable play, even with smaller hands. Unlike traditional dovetail neck joints that require major surgery for a neck re-set, it is easy to adjust the play action and neck angle with the Breedlove bolt-on neck and single-action truss rod. The hand-rubbed, semi-gloss Breedlove neck finish contributes to ideal playability – the finish process alone takes three days, including precise finish coat applications, fine sanding, and hand buffing and rubbing.
Breedlove Asymmetrical Headstock
The asymmetrical headstock featured on CM, Concert, Auditorium, and 12-String body shapes isn’t just a pretty design – it’s specifically designed to keep the strings in a straight, even line from the nut to the tuning pegs. The result is even tension, stable tuning, and ease of alternate tuning.

I adore my beautiful Masterclass Concert acoustic Breedlove guitar! The finish is sensational and the sound is so resonant! The guitar is just a joy to own and the fabulous Myrtlewood sides and back look totally gorgeous! As the guitar matures and the tone and colour deepens this is going to become even more amazing to hear and look at! My everyday go to guitar is also a Breedlove, a Myrtlewood Oregan model which I love too and it also enjoys superb tone and great looks! Breedlove guitars are just so easy to love and are also dangerously addictive! My Breedlove guitars are definitely Breeding as the collection slowly grows!!! I can't speak highly enough of the attention to detail, beauty and fabulous finish that Breedlove achieve! The guitars are just a dream to own and play!

Breedlove guitars have always been on my radar, but when I saw the figured myrtlewood on the Masterclass Concert I was hooked! I purchased my Breedlove back in June and I have been thrilled with every aspect of it. The guitar is a joy to play, and the sound and looks are so unique. My guitar-playing friends that I have shown it off to have all been quite impressed. It is terrific for finger-style playing because the notes all ring out so distinctly. It is comfortable to hold and the neck is a perfect fit for me. I also own a Larrrivee and a very nice Taylor acoustic, but this new addition to my collection has become my favorite guitar of all the ones I have ever owned. I consider guitars works of art, and this one is truly a masterpiece. I just want thank you folks for creating such a beautiful instrument, and I would encourage others to take a look at the products made by your highly-skilled craftsmen. The attention to detail is amazing, and I love the sound! Makes me want to play it every day( and I usually do! ). Thanks again, and keep up the great work.
