Jesse oversees the finish department, and admits he's "OCD nitpicky" when it comes to Breedlove finishes. Jesse's training in artistic precision started at an early age, assisting his father, a professional medium- and large-format black-and-white photographer. Working with his dad, Jesse learned how much every detail matters – they went to extensive lengths to make sure every step was completed flawlessly. As a result, Jesse is fanatical about the finish on every single guitar that comes through his department since, as he says, "Everything under the finish is preserved forever."
Growing up in Bend, Oregon, at the age of 14, Jesse had a dream: He wanted to work at Breedlove Guitars. Music was so important to him that he spent an entire summer working in the Central Oregon fields, bucking bales and moving pipe to earn the money for his first guitar. In a 10-year detour, Jesse earned a degree in international affairs from Lewis & Clark College, played baseball at a U.S. development camp in the Dominican Republic for the Pittsburg Pirates farm league, went on to contract for the Air Force Office of Scientific Research and the Office of Naval Research, and was also a civilian contractor for the Department of Defense in Washington DC. In 2010, he returned to Oregon and came to work for Breedlove, fulfilling his teenage dream. When not in the workshop, Jesse can be found playing music, writing, shooting photos, drawing, rock climbing, camping, fishing, hiking, and snowboarding (but not all at the same time).
