Latin Name: chamaecyparis lawsoniana
Origin: U.S.A: southwest Oregon and northwest California.
Tone Profile: Durable, stiff and strong with warm resonance. Very versatile acoustically. Like a combination of Sitka spruce and Western red cedar.
Aesthetics: Light amber in color, and also quite aromatic like eucalyptus.
Trivia / Fact: This tonewood known for its highly fragrant ginger aroma. Due to the straightness of its grain, it is also one of the preferred woods for arrow shafts.
