Dave Cofell - National and international touring, ASCAP PRO, member of Recording Academy for Grammy Awards, Folk Alliance International (FAI), Folk Alliance Region Midwest (FARM), Minnesota Music Coalition, Local 1000 AFM and endorsed by Shubb Capos.
1963 – Born in Collegeville, Minnesota. Surrounded by music of many countries and cultures due to proximity and association with Saint John’s University and The College of Saint. Benedict, (CSB/SJU); Father, William Cofell, Professor Emeritus CSB/SJU (Education, 1953-1986) sanctioned student John McCutcheon's Appalachian Mountains Independent Study. Music is a continuous source of study, enjoyment and inspiration within Dave's family and community.
1970 – Began learning to play music on piano, violin and ukulele. Volunteered to perform for schools, churches and 4-H events. Begins writing and performing original songs
1973 – Begins volunteering at Swayed Pines Fiddle Festival at Saint John's University in Collegeville.
1982 – Graduates from Apollo High School and begins performing as main source of income.
1987 – Tours Europe with performances in Italy, Greece, Turkey, Germany, France and England.
1988 – Graduates from College of Saint John's University, BA in Fine Arts with a concentration in Music.
1993 – 2010 While a “Stay at Home Dad” for his three daughters, continues writing and performing within Minnesota and Wisconsin.
2000 – 2010: Avon Area Arts volunteer and Board Member; co-founder Celebration of the Arts, Lost Hour Music Festival, and Fall Back Music Festival. Supporting act for featured artists, Garnet Rogers, The Pines, Paul Geremia.
2006 – Becomes co-host of Open Mic at the Local Blend in St. Joseph, now the longest running and most successful continuous Open Mic in all of Minnesota. Supporting act for featured artist, Garnet Rogers at Bo Diddley's in St. Cloud, Minnesota.
2009 – Releases first CD of original music, “The Road Ahead”.
2011 – Becomes in-house guitar teacher/assistant to owner, Al Hams of Hams Music in St. Cloud, Minnesota.
2011 – 2015 Co-founder of Weekend of Songs Festival in St. Joseph, Minnesota - A three day celebration of local singer-songwriters.
2012 – Releases second CD of original music, “No Substitute (For You)” featuring appearances by local musicians; Sold-Out CD release show at Pioneer Place Theatre in St. Cloud, Minnesota.
2013 – Sold-out Local Roots Show at Paramount Theater, St. Cloud, Minnesota.
2013 – Begins touring extensively nationwide with shows in 28 states.
2014 – Opens music teaching studio in downtown St. Cloud, Minnesota offering guitar lessons for students from age 8 to 75.
2014 – Touring extensively nationwide with shows in 32 states.
2015 – Volunteers with Promise Neighborhood, East side of St. Cloud, Minnesota, to provide music education to the under served.
2015 – Awarded Central Minnesota Arts Board (CMAB) Artist Career Development, McKnight Foundation Grant.
2015 – Supporting act for featured artist and Minnesota Hall of Fame Inductee (1995), Johnny Holm at Summertime, by George! in St. Cloud, Minnesota.; Touring extensively nationwide with shows in 36 states.
2016 – Releases third CD of original music, “A Thousand Shades of Blue”, recorded at Minnesota Hall of Fame Inductee (1992), Bobby Vee's Rockhouse Productions in St. Joseph, Minnesota featuring Jeff and Tommy Vee on guitar and bass.
2016 – First live performance recorded by request for the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress. Becomes member of Folk Alliance International.
2016 – Supporting act for Granite City Folk Society featured artist, John Gorka at Bo Diddley's in St. Cloud, Minnesota.
2016 – Touring extensively nationwide and internationally as well; shows in 40 states plus a two week Musical Tour in two city states and eight federal states of Germany. Becomes an ASCAP publisher.
2017 – First year donating performance time to annual Zonta House in St. Cloud, Minnesota, a fundraiser for Anna Marie's Alliance programs, Journey Home, Zonta International projects and local scholarships. Second live performance recorded by request for the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress.
2017 – Touring extensively nationwide with shows in 40 states. Highlights include getting signed by Handshake Management in Austin, Texas, endorsed by Shubb Capos and becomes a voting member for Recording Academy - the Grammy Awards.
2018 – Second year donating performance time to annual Zonta House in St. Cloud, Minnesota, a fundraiser for Anna Marie's Alliance programs, Journey Home, Zonta International projects and local scholarships.
2018 – Touring extensively nationwide with shows in 44 states. Highlights include: Performances at Rockwood Music Hall in NYC, Sweetwater in Fort Wayne, Indiana (https://www.sweetwater.com).
