Songwriter, Singer, Guitarist, Producer, Instructor, Author, Poet
Growing up in the Pacific Northwest, Zay has that famous Portland rain running through her veins.
She has a natural ability for storytelling and strikes a sophisticated balance in her craft as a Song-smith, weaving intellect and whimsy through songs with music and lyrics that echo shades of her life and experience.
Besides being an incredible guitarist, she has an amazing voice that reflects the heartfelt emotion of artists like Melissa Etheridge and Janis Joplin with the raw power of Ann Wilson (of Heart).
She has long history of live performance and an extensive experience producing, arranging, playing guitar, mandolin, singing lead vocals, background vocals and harmonies for studio session work.
In 1999, she struck out in search of a broader musical experience and followed her calling all the way back to southern roots, landing in Atlanta and bouncing to Nashville. There she continued writing, teaching music and performing in venues like Eddie’s Attic, Variety Playhouse, Tootsie’s, Rubee’s and The Bluebird Café.
In 2011 she returned home to her beloved Pacific NW and struck up the incredible friendship with Anastasia Gilliam, which led to their dynamic band, Butterfly Breakdown.
She is currently producing her 3rd album, "BLUE", which is due for release in January 2015 and she is already at work writing new music for Butterfly Breakdown's next project.
“The depth and richness of my Breedlove's musical tone is almost buttery. I have many other guitars but this is my first Breedlove and I'm hooked! It has a unique timbre and sound my other guitars just don't have.” - Zay Harrison
