Body Shape

The Breedlove Concert is the original Breedlove shape. It first appeared in 1992, and has been the best-selling Breedlove body shape ever since. Designed specifically for the fingerstylist to be well balanced, compact, and comfortable to play, it generates a wonderfully articulate range of tone with an ample low end that is never boomy, but always felt. The unique construction also allows the Concert to sing even at a full strum. If you’re a fingerstylist, or are seeking an instrument to use as vocal accompaniment, this is the shape for you. The Concert is engineered to provide exceptional sustain with a pronounced bass response, both of which can be achieved with a light touch. The graduated top works in harmony with the Breedlove Bridge Truss to provide an even response throughout the lows, mids, and highs, with sustain, and clear, concise, note-for-note projection.

Breedlove Bridge Truss

The Breedlove Bridge Truss (BBT) reduces tension on the soundboard of the guitar, so the top wood is able to vibrate more freely, producing remarkable sustain, balance, and clarity. The BBT also allows for a thinner graduated top, thereby allowing Breedlove craftsmen to bring out the optimal sound from the top wood without sacrificing structural stability. Relieving much of the string tension from the bridge prevents “bridge belly,” ensuring top stability for decades. Guitar strings can exert up to 230 pounds of pull from the nut to the bridge. Traditional methods for preventing top bowing at the bridge usually involve heavy internal bracing and thicker tops. The BBT compensates for this pressure in an innovative way: The BBT is mounted to the bridge from the inside and is connected into the tail block of the guitar, pulling downward on the underside of the bridge to distribute some of the tension, relieving pressure on the top. The resulting tonal effect on BBT-equipped guitars is more resonance and livelier sound with enhanced overtones.

Breedlove Pinless Bridge

The Breedlove Pinless Bridge helps maintain the integrity of the top by eliminating the need for six drilled string holes. The fewer holes in your soundboard, the more evenly the sound wave can move across the interior, without any loss of energy. The Breedlove Pinless Bridge also provides a gentler string-break angle from the bridge to the top of the saddle, reducing saddle strain. This innovative bridge also makes string changes a breeze, especially on 12 strings. Plus, you’ll never again have to worry about lost, worn-out, or broken bridge pins.

Breedlove Neck

Breedlove guitars feature a slimmer neck profile, which enables comfortable play, even with smaller hands. The hand-rubbed, semi-gloss Breedlove neck finish also contributes to ideal playability. The labor-intensive finish process includes precise finish coat applications, fine sanding, and hand buffing and rubbing.

Limited Lifetime Warranty

Breedlove players around the world can attest: With consistent, proper care, your Breedlove will give you a lifetime of service – and inspiration. New Breedlove instruments, purchased through an authorized Breedlove dealer, are warrantied to be free of defects in materials and workmanship throughout the lifetime of the original owner. In addition to materials and workmanship, Breedlove offers a two-year warranty on tuning machines and electronics packages. Cases and bags are subject to a one-year warranty covering defects in structure and hardware. Full details on our limited lifetime warranty are available here.

Top Wood

For musicians who play the a variety of instrument, or are looking for a very specific tone offered by cedar, guitars made with this tonewood can offer a nice alternative to the spruces and other top tonewoods. This tonewood produces wonderful tones with a light touch, therefore it’s great for fingerstyle playing. If you are a fingerstyle player, then you will love the way this guitar amplifies the sound and tone.

This tonewood usually has a reddish and/or  brown color, which makes the guitars very attractive. The color can range from very darker  to much lighter in tone, so you have a wide variety of aesthetic options to choose from. This tonewood has a smooth textured surface that looks even more lustrous after finishing.

Back and Side Wood

Mahogany is a medium-lightweight wood, ranging in color from light brown to dark, primarily used for necks because of the feel and the stability it provides. Balanced, resonant tone with notable sustain. Thick bottom end, rich midrange, and controlled, warm top end. Found from southern Mexico through Central America and south to Brazil and Bolivia.  Mahogany is the national tree of Belize, where the national coat of arms features a mahogany tree with two woodcutters bearing an axes and paddle under the national motto, “Sub umbra florero,” which is Latin for “Under the shade I flourish.”

Recently upgraded my acoustic to your Pursuit Concert. Played about 10 different guitars in the room, some of which were 3x as expensive, and none could compete with the Breedlove! Love the distinct shape and the incredible sound. You have a customer for life!

I bought this Guitar used at Guitar Center for $299, Until that day I have never heard of the brand before so needless to say I did not really pay it much attention at first. I was on a mission to buy a Martin. I played a couple and they had a used Martin for 350 the only downside is that it was not acoustic electric. The Breedlove was right next to it so I decided to pick her up and give her a go. I fell in love with that first strum. I did some research on google as I had it sitting in my lap and I could barely tell it was there. This is the best Guitar I have ever owned, I have been playing for 15 years and I have owned several guitars, Gibson's, Fenders, Ibanez, Deans... whatever. The action is 2nd to none.

I bought this model as it was head and shoulders above the competitors in this price range. Truth be told, I had my mind set on a less expensive competitors guitar that I had already played a couple of times. I tried this one out as I was fascinated by the lower fret access. Sure, it was $300 more than the guitar I was anticipating buying, but, I soon found it was well worth it. Aside from the built in micro-USB port, Tuner, Tone controls and the Fishman pickup....it is an acoustic by the way, its response was incredible. The mahogany neck, back and sides matched with a solid cedar top allows for a very sensitive guitar. If you want a very warm and balanced sound, finger playing or light picking gives you that sound. If you want more bite and brightness, attacking the strings a little more aggressively wakes the guitar up. It almost like having two guitars in one.

A truly beautiful instrument, well balanced, with that great warmth to it. Great precision in both the lows and highs. I tested Martins, Seagulls, Taylors, and found absolutely none that reached the same balance in tones. Just wondering what my next Breedlove's going to be.

Grabbed a Pursuit Concert in Nashville about a year ago and couldn't be happier with it. I was sold on the great tone immediately, and it's solid value all around. Great versatile acoustic guitar that stands out form the pack. Thanks Breedlove!

I bought this guitar last night and simply could not put it down once I got it home. This guitar is simply incredible, especially for the price. Its rich and warm tonal quality is a testament to the cedar top and mahogany sides and back. Then I plugged it into a small amp to test out the Fishman ISYS electronics and was blown away yet again. This is an absolute great guitar all around. I am very happy to have added it to my collection.
