Matt Harp is a guitarist hailing from Springfield, Missouri. Since transitioning from the piano to the guitar at the age of 14, his multi-faceted musical journey has spanned multiple genres – heavy metal, blues, classical, jazz, and most recently acoustic fingerstyle. His first solo album, “Legacy,” was released in 2018 and features all original acoustic fingerstyle material, with the follow-up album “Forward” being released in September 2019. Matt has released multiple singles since that time, with another album on the horizon. His biggest influences in this genre include Andy McKee, Tommy Emmanuel, Antoine Dufour, Don Ross, and Erik Mongrain.
Having surpassed one million streams on Spotify, Matt’s music has truly reached a global audience. In addition to streaming, Matt was the runner-up for the 2020 Wilson Center Guitar Competition (fingerstyle category) and was selected to compete in the 2019 Fingerstyle Collective Guitar Festival competition (hosted by Candyrat Records and Fretmonkey Records). He has also shared the bill with artists such as Lance Allen, Spencer Elliott, Alexandr Misko, Maneli Jamal, Thomas Leeb, and others as part of the 2020 Fingerstyle Hub Festival online concert series.
Matt is in the process of writing and recording new music for a third acoustic fingerstyle album. He is currently endorsed by Breedlove, Elite Acoustics Engineering, and K&K Sound Systems.
