There’s a quiet intensity to Avi Kaplan. You hear it in his voice—deep, resonant, and unwavering—and you also feel it in the stillness he creates. A former member of the Grammy-winning group Pentatonix, Kaplan stepped into a new spotlight in 2017 to pursue something more personal. Since then, he’s carved out a solo path rooted in folk, soul, and Americana—music that’s grounded, reflective, and brimming with emotional weight.

His songs don’t shout for attention—they draw you in. From I’ll Get By to Floating on a Dream to his latest release, Move Our Souls, Kaplan’s work feels timeless and intentional. It’s the kind of music that stops you in your tracks.

“Attending a recent performance in Bend, his voice is so commanding, deep and powerful—it hits you in your core,” says Breedlove Artist Relations Director, RA Beattie. “At one point I noticed the entire audience whispering between songs. Someone next to me even said, ‘We’re all whispering.’ Being at one of Avi’s shows is a commanding and amazing experience.”

At the center of his live performance is a well-worn, vintage Breedlove dreadnought made from Sitka spruce and rosewood—the first Breedlove acoustic guitar he ever owned, and still the one he brings on stage each night. That guitar, like Avi’s music, carries history and soul. It’s more than an instrument; it’s a part of his voice.

Kaplan doesn’t just perform songs—he creates space. And in that space, listeners find something rare: a moment of real presence.

In early 2025, Kaplan released Move Our Souls, an expansive and deeply personal record featuring the Oregon Forest Choir. The project builds on his signature sound while introducing new textures and a broader sonic landscape. It’s a bold, spiritual step forward—and perhaps his most immersive work to date.

He’s currently on tour in support of the new album, bringing his unmistakable voice and storytelling to intimate venues across the U.S. As always, it’s just Avi, the songs, the audience—and that one, beloved Breedlove guitar.
