David Gulick is a professional musician based in Portland, Oregon. Over the course of his career as a guitar player and singer, he has performed with a variety of bands including Derby and Fremont. In addition, David has applied his creative writing and playing talents to his studio work, producing a tremendous portfolio of studio recordings used in commercial applications. As a left handed guitar player, David has been part of the Breedlove family for many years and assisted us with the development of our Breedlove Left Handed program.
As of late, he has dedicated the majority of his time to two main projects; the scoring of a documentary film shot on location in Nicaragua and the formation of a new band / creative project called Ants Ants Ants. We are proud to feature David as our featured artist for the month and we will be taking a closer look at this projects throughout the month of May.
About Ants Ants Ants
Ants Ants Ants is an Oregon based family music band with original songs that evoke vivid imagery of childhood at its best. Songwriters Johnny Clay and Dave Gulick give stylistic nods to 1970’s era Sesame Street, School House Rock and “The Point” by Harry Nilsson targeting not only the kids in our lives, but the kid in all of us. About Derby
Comprised of Nat Johnson, Dave Gulick, and Isaac Frost, Derby formed in Portland, OR, in the early 2000s. The trio’s first full-length, “This Is the New You,” was released on Roslyn Records in 2005; the album showcased the band’s bright-eyed, innocent indie pop sound, one that nodded to influences like Nada Surf and Sloan. Derby toured in support of the album over the course of the following year, opening for wide-ranging, well-established indie and alt-rock acts like Robyn Hitchcock, the Decemberists, Imperial Teen, and Badly Drawn Boy.
