Johnny Sidney Davis began his career in the music industry by sneaking into a Misfits concert at age 14. Not wanting to miss one of his favorite bands and low on cash, Davis was caught by singer and Bassist Jerry Only (frontman), who “punished” him by making him work the merchandise booth at the show. By the end of the night, Davis was hooked on the allure of the independent music scene. Jerry Only left him with a promise that when he turned 18, he would have a job with them. The story could have ended there, with a great story about a kid’s favorite band throwing him a bone. Rather than let a simple anecdote become his legacy, Davis went on to form and perform in many bands and started a company Red Light Productions, a booking and management firm out of Bend, Oregon.
Davis is unique in that he has spent much of his time not only cultivating Red Light Artist Agency (now 1988 Entertainment) but touring the world with various acts having been to 38 states and 2 countries internationally spending 6-8 months a year on the road for the better part of 6 years as a touring musician gaining the attention of Orange guitar amps as a now endorsed artist. He has a deep understanding of what artists are looking for both on the road and off the road, what it takes to book a successful tour or just a hometown show, ultimately because Davis has lived on both sides of the van.
He has a passion for working closely with clients, pushing them to reach their full potential while learning from the pros he has had the privilege of producing concerts with, artists including Whiskey Myers, Granger Smith, Charley Crockett, Tommie Sunshine, Mike Watt and the Missingmen, Sage The Gemini, RiFFRAFF, Common Kings, James McMurtry, Rhiannon Giddens, T.I., Mickey Avalon, Carnifex, Trapt, Alien Ant Farm, Built To Spill, Eve 6, Andrew WK, Dieselboy, Downlink, Keith Anderson, Jim Adkins ( Of Jimmy Eat World), Warren G, Everlast, Chelsea Grin, Bring Me the Horizon, We Came as Romans, As I Lay Dying, The Frights, Built To Spill, David Ryan Harris, Gabe Dixon, The Game, Gift Of Gab, D.O.A., Strung Out, Unwritten Law, 68, Together Pangea, Shawn James, the list goes on and on as Davis has produced thousands and thousands of concerts in his career and now owns and run Volcanic Theatre in Bend, OR a 11-timeaward-winning “best live music venue” – The Source Weekly. Davis produces 300+ concerts a year in 5 states, working with countless other music scene giants as a concert producer and talent buyer. In addition, Davis is a songwriter, recording engineer, and music producer. Like any good entrepreneur, Davis has his hand in a little bit of everything in the music industry, learning each trade in the hopes that he can best serve his potential clients, no matter their needs.
