In February 2006, Jon Yonts relocated to Anchorage, Alaska knowing no one there at the time save his uncle.
With scant but an acoustic guitar to occupy him during his off-hours, it was during this time that he began coming up with his own compositions. After receiving a song one night and feeling the need to share it, he looked up the next local open mic and reserved a spot, barely finalizing his composition a few hours before he was set to perform it. Upon the attendance reception of that first performance came the realization that songwriting was something fully within his capabilities.
In the years that followed there was hardly any cease in the composing and with each new creation his style continued to evolve, becoming ever-increasingly intricate and unique. In 2010 he acquired a violin and began attending Humboldt State University in pursuit of a degree in music.
In 2014 he released his first album, including songs that spanned back to his first composition in 2006, under the artist name: A New Chapter. And then, in 2019 he released an EP under the artist name: The Musicteller, and a single under the same name the following year.
2021 saw Jon Yonts in Colombia working diligently to produce another full-length album, the first from him since 2014.
