Ken McCauley has been entertaining audiences with his singing and acoustic guitar playing for over thirty years. His first experience playing live gigs was as a saxophonist/vocalist right after high school with remnants of the Romeo, Michigan band Paradox, which included another future journeyman, Roy Caldwell. He soon moved to Atlanta Georgia to attend Life University.  Aside from his studies, He quickly found himself playing three to four acoustic gigs a week in Buckhead, Little Five Points, and The Virginia Highlands. He was a regular at the now esteemed live venue, The Dixie Tavern, alternating weeknights with the then-unknown Zac Brown.  After six years in Georgia, Ken moved back home to the Metro Detroit area and almost immediately started filling in for the Uber popular solo entertainer Cliff Erickson. With the help of Cliff, Ken was soon busy playing music venues across South East Michigan. A chance meeting with well-traveled guitarist Bob Monteleone in 2001 turned into the formation of the duo known as The Ken & Bob Show. A duo that is now going on its 20th year.  Ken and Bob’s 2014 video of their version of the Beatles’ “A Day in the Life” is a minor hit on YouTube. About five years ago, Ken, along with Monteleone and guitarist Matt Hamann, formed the nucleus of the Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young tribute band Carry On. Carry On consistently sells out the nationally known Detroit venue the Magic Bag. Through the years Ken has co-written songs like “Wichita” with Refreshment’s guitarist Brian Blush. Ken wrote and recorded Lazy Daze, which was used as a jingle by The Rochester Mills Beer Co.  Ken is a member of a dying breed of entertainers who eschews modern devices like iPads and laptops and relies on his memory, hard work, and considerable chops to make it through sometimes lengthy and strenuous gigs. His acoustic guitars are the lifeblood of his musical career, whether he’s on stage by himself, as part of a duo, or with the six-piece band Carry On.
