Molly Brown is an award-winning songwriter, artist and musician from Toronto, Canada. Before moving down to Nashville in 2014, she studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston where she got her degree in songwriting and performance, allowing her to perform with Willie Nelson, Carole King, Annie Lennox and Kris Kristofferson at the college’s highly- anticipated Commencement Concert in 2013. In 2017, her debut album “The High Road” was recorded and released thanks to a viral crowd-funded Kickstarter Campaign. The album and its single, “Montana” were featured on Canadian Country radio and the project was listed as the #9 Female Country Release of the Year by Queens of Country. Her second single from the album, “This Town” was a semi-finalist in the 2016 Unsigned Only Competition.
In Music City, USA, Molly works full-time as a session musician, vocalist, performer and songwriter, so she can often be found at local venues sharing her original music with new and old fans. As a lover of the classic-rock genre, Molly was thrilled in 2018 to join the ranks of 24 Canadian artists to re-produce and release hit songs from Tom Petty’s discography to commemorate his life’s work one year after his tragic death. “Canada Covers Tom Petty” was a viral Spotify playlist curated by Jadea Kelly, and Molly’s self-produced rendition of The Heartbreaker’s “Walls” went on to be featured on Sirius XM’s Tom Petty Channel. There is no denying she has an old soul, as her original music has struck the likes of Country artists Gretchen Wilson, ‘Trick Pony’s’ Heidi Newfield and even Grammy winner Tanya Tucker, leading her to share the stage with these icons in 2018. When speaking about Molly’s original song, “White Horses”, which won Honorable Mention in the 2018 International Songwriting Competition, Tanya Tucker said, “Somebody is missing the boat, here. This girl is incredible. I love this song so much. I should have written it myself.”
Molly is currently recording and self-producing new original music, which is due to be released in 2020. Her modern and traditional influences will bring together sounds that are similar to those of Sheryl Crow, James Taylor, Mark Knopfler, Vince Gill, Brandy Clark, Brandi Carlile and Kacey Musgraves. With versed musicianship, intelligent lyrics and deep appreciation of many musical genres, Molly will pour a whole lot of love into her project in hopes that her original sound continues to evolve and attract listeners and music-lovers of all ages.
