Rod DeGeorge has been touring/performing, composing, recording, producing, and teaching full time for over 3 decades now. He was drawn to music at a very young age and as he describes it, “Music has moved me deep inside since I was a kid, and as long I can remember, I wanted to have the ability to move people in that very same way!” Rod’s musical style can be described as having a Classic Rock vibe to it while incorporating elements of Classical, Fusion as well as World Music into the mix.
Whether he is doing his vocal or instrumental material, strong songwriting is the key for him. He states, “I love hearing world-class musicianship, but what really keeps me coming back for countless listens, is a great song!” Growing up about 50 miles west of Philadelphia, there was always high-quality talent to see locally. So to a young, budding guitarist, going to a local venue could mean seeing Dave Cullen, a future Grammy Winner, or Greg Howe, the future guitarist for Michael Jackson, Justin Timberlake, and NSync, or Richie Kotzen, the future guitarist for Poison, Mr. Big, and The Winery Dogs. Needless to say, the bar was set pretty high in Rod’s mind just to play at the local venues. However, It was always a labor of love for Rod. Although he put in a massive amount of time on the instrument, on stage, and in the studio, he said that it never felt like work. It was always fun and it is just what he has always wanted to do.
Rod has kept busy as a working musician and has been Seen/Heard on VH1, MTV, E!, and Fox, as well as appearing in the 2011 film Mayor Cupcake, starring Leah Thompson (Back to the Future) and Judd Nelson (Breakfast Club). He has also shared the stage with Superstars such as Paul Stanley of Kiss, Earl Slick (guitarist for both John Lennon & David Bowie), and members of Foreigner, 38 Special, Bad Company & Cinderella. Rod has performed at Inaugural Balls for 2 US Presidents, NFL halftime and pre-game shows, as well as special events at the Russian Embassy and National Press Club in Washington DC. He has also been featured in major international publications such as Guitar Player Magazine, Hammer World (Hungary) & Guitar Player Brazil just to name a few. What Others are saying: “Awesome! Reminds me of Jeff Beck!” – Paul Stanley (KISS) “Itʼs fun to zoom through all the melodies, wah stabs, keyboard flurries, shred bits and harmony solos, and then collapse with giddy exhaustion.” – Guitar Player Magazine “Check out this adventurous young fella: his playing is very exciting, and his technical proficiency is quite admirable.” – Elliott Randall (Steely Dan/Solo Artist) “If thereʼs any justice in the world, Rod DeGeorge will be one of the brightest stars amongst 21st Century new guitar heroes.” – Hammer World Magazine, Hungary
