Saint Square is a folk-rock project from Richmond, Virginia. Built around the music of singer/songwriter Ben Berumez, Saint Square’s lyric-driven brand of indie originals engages the heart as well as the ear. Ben started out as a solo act, but soon joined forces with his brother (and fellow multi-instrumentalist) Ethan Berumez. Whether as a solo, duo, or full band, this acoustic-led collective has been connecting with listeners across the Richmond music scene and beyond.
In 2019 they released their debut single “Crashing Down,” followed by the full EP, “Area of Effect,” in early 2020. As was the case for so many artists, 2020 proved to be an interesting year for live performances. Not to be daunted, Saint Square took time to write, reflect, and prepare for better days. It was time well spent. 2023 saw the release of their first live project, titled “Live and Local,” which was recorded during a performance at the Local Cup in Mechanicsville, Virginia. Their latest release, the single “Always,” hit streaming platforms in October, 2024.
Now, Saint Square is performing in and around Richmond, and is a staple of many venues and festivals in the area. An untitled acoustic project is currently in production, with a release planned for early 2025.
