It all started back in June of 1998. A kid who lied about his age found himself in a professional wresting ring in West Virginia staring at the legendary El Guano #2. While Sean lost that debut match, he knew that he wanted a life that involved entertaining people. With that, “Spiffy” was born.
Sean calls himself the prototypical “90’s kid” – He’s JUST old enough to remember when MTV actually played MUSIC (Fun fact, that’s what the “M” stands for, kids!) and he spent HOURS watching bands like Pearl Jam, Hootie and the Blowfish, Alice in Chains, Third Eye Blind, and Metallica videos. There was an acoustic guitar sitting in the living room that Sean picked up one day and tried to play along to the songs being played on the TV. He would even put in a VHS tape (Google it, kids!) so that he could listen to his favorite songs over and over again and try to pick out the notes that he heard being played. There was one SLIGHT problem: Sean was holding the guitar upside down and backwards.
You see, Sean is left-handed and the guitar did not know that.
There is always at least a few people with a look of bewilderment as they watch “Spiffy” on stage playing a G chord with his THUMB on the high E. Sean maintains his unique approach to performing every time he takes the stage. His interactive, all-request solo show has helped him become a mainstay entertainer in Key West while balancing a busy full band and wedding schedule. Spiffy Sean and The Walk of Shame Band have played over 1,000 shows (and counting!) and the band’s “classier” side, Walk of Love, is a Hall-of-Fame Inductee and nationally recognized award-winning wedding band. He has endorsements from Sennheiser, In-Tune and of course, Jagermeister.
“Request a song and drink along” with “Spiffy” Sean Styles!
