Multi-talented Stephen Martines is a gifted singer, songwriter and television actor. Music was often his refuge while growing up in St. Louis, Missouri. From early-on, Stephen was exposed to a variety of genres – from grinding blues standards belted out by his grandmother in her kitchen to Elvis recordings on the family hi-fi to the soulwringing ballads of Garth Brooks blasting from his bedroom stereo when he wasn’t practicing on his saxophone. After a stint in the U.S. Air Force and a career-ending soccer injury, Stephen followed another dream, uprooting his life and moving to Los Angeles in 1998 where he began a career in television – becoming a regular on General Hospital and The Guiding Light – eventually branching out into prime-time television with roles on The Closer, Vampire Diaries and Burn Notice, among others. Along the way, however, his passion for country music called him to Nashville, where he harnessed his songwriting creativity with a stint at Warner-Chappell along with cowriting songs with many people he met along the way. This contact gave him the opportunity to write and hone his craft with mega-talents like Jon Nite, Ross Copperman, Jay Brunswick and Brandon Ray. Stephen released his first single in 2017, and we are excited to now have Stephen under the 40West Records label, where he will continue to expand his catalogue of great country songs – from soulful ballads to memorable, energetic, dance-in-your-seat releases. Stephen’s talent and voice is reaching new fans across the United States and internationally through radio, the media and the enthusiasm of both hislongtime and new-found fans! Check out his touching, melodic and utterly-relatable ballad Sounds Like Whiskey, which held the #1 spot on Nashville’s The Iceman’s New Country Artist Chart for seven weeks. In 2019 we were proud to have released Stephen’s first single (and music video) under the 40West Records, the summer single Alright, which has been receiving airplay on country radio stations across the U.S.
