Zakk Garner is a music producer, multi-instrumentalist session musician based in Nashville, TN. Born and raised in the small town of Tickfaw, Louisiana, Zakk fell in love with music during his teenage years and never looked back. He began playing guitar in junior high and picked up the saxophone in high school because the guitar was prohibited in the marching band. Zakk deepened that love for music with a Bachelor in Music Education degree from Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, Louisiana, where he studied classical saxophone, and guitar. Zakk’s passion for musical improvisation led him to obtaining his Master’s degree in Jazz Studies from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, where he studied with world-renowned saxophonist and clarinetist, Victor Goines. After honing his skills in the Chicago music scene, Zakk moved back to Louisiana where he accepted a position as a Gifted and Talented Music Instructor for the Tangipahoa Parish Public Schools System. During his years at this position, Zakk curated an award-winning student jazz combo while maintaining a highly active presence in the Gulf South Music Scene.
Since moving to Nashville in January of 2020, Garner has developed a name for himself as a both a producer and “Swiss Army Knife” session musician, with production and recording credits from artists such as Jelly Roll, Zac Brown, Tech N9ne, Boosie, Yung Gravy, Starlito, Struggle Jennings, CLEVER, and many more. Zakk’s unique versatility as a musician has led him to touring internationally as both a jazz saxophonist and country lead guitarist, and sharing the stage with everyone from Ellis Marsalis to Mary Stuart.
Zakk is endorsed by Breedlove Guitars, Mono Creators, and SIT strings.
