Breedlove Crafts Custom Masterpiece Acoustic Guitar for 2019 Sisters Folk Festival

If you visit the Breedlove workshop and walk the long hallway which connects visitors to the Custom Design Center (a fabulous room full of mater grade exotic tonewoods, high-end acoustic guitars and other custom guitar design elements), you can't help but notice the hall is lined with spectacularly vibrant highly colored posters chronicling roughly 18 years of partnership between Breedlove Guitars and the Sisters Folk Festival. For nearly two decades, Breedlove has shown support for the local festival by donating a master grade custom acoustic guitar – known for exquisite inlay, master grade exotic tonewoods and supreme craftsmanship.

This year, the craftsmen have once again gone “all out” in the build of a true collectors edition, ultra-custom Sisters Folks Festival guitar. This masterpiece Custom Concertina body shape includes a figured redwood top and Malaysian Blackwood back and sides. The guitar body is finished with a high gloss, while the mahogany neck received a light walnut stain and hand-rubbed semi-gloss. The ebony fretboard was inlayed with a green abalone, mother of pearl and koa “paddle” design to match this year's festival poster. Fine details include a slotted wave headstock, tortoise binding, a single green abalone rosette, and many additional custom details.

The entire Breedlove team is excited to support this year's 2019 Sisters Folk Festival, and we hope to see you at the event! Look for the Breedlove booth and purchase a raffle ticket for a chance to win this stunning custom Breedlove guitar!

Sisters Folk Festival Announces Final 2019 Artist Lineup | Breedlove Endorsed Artist Aaron Guest of Polecat to Attend Festival

Sisters Folk Festival, known for its intimacy of performances and as one of the most well-respected music festivals in the country, is thrilled to announce the final lineup of the annual event, which will take place September 6-8, 2019. The festival's 11 walkable venues throughout beautiful downtown Sisters, Oregon has intrigued audiences for more than two decades, earning the moniker “All the Town’s a Stage.”

This year’s lineup follows suit from last year in bringing a diverse roster, both culturally and musically to Central Oregon. The artists represent outstanding talent. Creative director Brad Tisdel and the SFF talent committee have curated a unique lineup, bringing the distinct nature of the event to light. It has become a boutique discovery festival, presenting artists from all over North America and beyond.

The 45 artists in the final lineup for 2019 include: Bruce Cockburn, Peter Rowan's Free Mexican Airforce featuring Los Texmaniacs (each will also perform their own set), Ron Artis II & The Truth, Le Vent du Nord, Rising Appalachia, The East Pointers, Della Mae, The Hamiltones, Flor de Toloache, Martyn Joseph, Aaron Lee Tasjan, Carrie Rodriguez, Red Dirt Boys, Phil Madeira, Will Kimbrough, Cedric Burnside, Lindsay Lou, Keith Greeninger & Dayan Kai, Lula Wiles, Pharis & Jason Romero, Alex Cuba, Ellis, David Jacobs-Strain & Bob Beach, Kuinka, The Brother Brothers, The Sweet Remains, Johnsmith, Sver, Vandoliers, Beth Wood, The Suitcase Junket, FY5, Susan Gibson, Jeffrey Martin, Kacy & Clayton, Dennis McGregor & the Spoilers, Stand & Sway, Polecat, The Arcadian Wild, Thunderstorm Artis, Sway Wild, Kristin Andreassen, Pete Kartsounes, Anna Tivel, Arouna Diarra & Biko

This year’s compelling poster image was once again created by local artist, author and songwriter Dennis McGregor. McGregor says: “The title is ‘Ripples’… Sisters Folk Festival loves songwriters. Since its earliest years, the festival has provided an extraordinary opportunity for those who are interested in the craft. The Americana Song Academy found a home at Caldera on the banks of Blue Lake 18 years ago. Since the program was launched, many people have had life-changing experiences there. Word of the experience spread and the ‘ripple effect’ continues to this day.”

In this year’s poster, Dennis painted a nod to song camp. On these crystal, spring-fed waters a solitary figure pauses from life’s routine and basks in a moment of inspiration. The canoe isn’t moving, but it’s definitely going somewhere. Ask any of the hundreds of song-campers whose lives have experienced the ripple effect! The image of a person in a canoe on a lake conjures up simpler times of reflection and inspiration, similar to what folks experience at the Americana Song Academy held at Caldera each year, the week before the festival.

Sisters Folk Festival will also host the 18th annual Americana Song Academy, Sept. 3-6, which has become a retreat and destination for songwriters to learn from professional artists and build community through music. Teaching artists for 2019 include: Ron Artis II & the Truth, Martyn Joseph, Susan Gibson, The Brother Brothers, Lula Wiles, Pharis & Jason Romero, FY5, Alex Cuba, Thunderstorm Artis, Ara Lee James, The East Pointers, Johnsmith, Dennis McGregor, Ellis, Keith Greeninger, David Jacobs Strain and Mandy Fer & Dave McGraw. The creative energy and collaborations produced at the academy bring special musical performances to the festival. There are still a handful of slots available for the 2019 academy.

Festival passes are $170 for adults and $55 for those 18 and under. For tickets, artist information, and a complete listing of the lineup, please visit www.sistersfolkfestival.org.
