Artist Arsena Schroeder Launches New Campaign for Album “Sleep Talking”

Artist Arsena Schroeder is gearing up to record her sophomore album, “Sleep Talking” and has invited us on to join the process via PledgeMusic. We had the pleasure of chatting with Arsena to learn a little more about this 30-day campaign for new music. Here's the inside scoop:

Breedlove:    Please tell me about this new project you are working on – Sleep Talking.

Arsena   This is my sophomore full-length album. Since my last project, I've released a a couple of EP's, typically with three to five songs. This project will be a cohesive compilation of least ten songs, sometimes I end up writing a few extras that might make the cut, but at least ten songs on this album. At least two of the songs are the crowd favorites from the EP's over the last two years.

My husband gave the album its name. He said that I did a lot of sleep talking last year. When I look at the theme of the songs, or reoccurring themes, there's a lot of talk about dreams, rest, and even restlessness. So I thought “yeah, that's a really good title.”

Breedlove:    What motivates your creative process?

Arsena   I pull from the highs and the lows of life. For some reason, I don't know if it's just a singer-songwriter thing or what, but a lot of my songs tend to lean more towards the difficulties in my life because I'm trying to process them. So I use music as a way to work through it, and I often find it resonates with others – it's the human experience. It's important I share how I've processed and grown from these experiences. I will say, as a songwriter, it's difficult once you've processed and moved past a topic. You want to move on, but you realize people still want to hear the song about that difficult time they can relate to. For that reason, I've tried to evolve into a more well-rounded songwriter over the last two years, highlighting the highs just as much as the lows.

Breedlove:    Where will you record this new album?

Arsena   My friend friend Sanchez Fair will be producing the album so we will record at his home studio. I like his energy, and I think he can elevate the songs.

Breedlove: Please tell me a little about your PledgeMusic campaign, and how people can get involved, learn more or help support?

Well to support the project and help cover production costs, I've decided to launch a Pre-order Store via PledgeMusic (www.pledgemusic.com/projects/sleeptalking2018). March 15th through April 15th, I'm asking EVERYONE to support the project by pre-ordering it!
