Bend, OR (June 25, 2015) Sisters Folk Fest is a fun festival that has been an annual tradition since 1995. SSF is a non-profit organization that has a clear vision to bring the finest acoustic music to the warmhearted town of Sisters, OR. Sisters Folk Fest has developed into a year round cultural arts organization that supports local schools with extensive community engagement. Not only does SFF put together an awesome festival, the non-profit also is responsible for the successful educational outreach program, the Americana Project (which teaches high school students how to build their own guitars as well as songwriting classes), My Own Two Hands, and the Sisters Folk Arts Circle.
Breedlove began sponsorship of the Sisters Folk Fest in 2001. Since then Breedlove has created a custom guitar that is raffled off to raise funds for these important projects in the Sisters and surrounding communities. This custom Breedlove gets more beautiful each year and always incorporates a custom inlay, this year by inlay artist Austin Cerney. This 2015 custom SSF guitar has a red cedar top, custom burst finish, mahogany neck, and ebony fretboard and bridge. Another special feature of this custom Breedlove is the Tree Honduran mahogany back and sides donated by Jay Howlett, long time supporter of the Sisters Folk Fest and award winning singer and songwriter. “The Tree” has caused excitement to many woodworking and guitar enthusiast. The tree isn’t like any other mahogany, it contains heavy figuring that is thought to be the result of a genetic defect. The quilted mahogany is from a single tree, a tree that holds a long and fascinating story.
The custom guitar will be on display at Paulina Springs Books in Sisters. Raffle tickets are 1 for $20.00 and 3 for $50.00 and can be purchased in advance here at Breedlove Stringed Instruments (61573 American Loop Bend, OR 97702) and also at the Folk Festival website. Breedlove looks forward to the sponsorship each year and can’t wait to meet you at the 2015 Sisters Folk Festival!
