The “Rock The Oaks” Benefit
In 2008 it started as “Temecula Live” as we were holding it at the Temecula Theater. When we moved the venue, the name changed to “Rock The Oaks”
The concert is 2 days & 3 shows to benefit a school called Oak Grove Center, in Temecula.
This is a non-public school that takes in under privileged, abused, troubled, & mentally challenged kids and gives them an education. It is a non-profit organization and everything is funded by donations. This benefit concert, put on by Gwyn Sanborn & The Ranch Rockers band, raises money every year for them by selling tickets for the event. It's truly a blessing to be able to play this every year and myself & the Brewer Boys have been playing the event every year from the first one.
To date, the concerts have raised enough money to provide an arts & music classroom, remodeled rooms, and a brand new gymnasium along with countless other programs for the school. The school always sends a large group of the students to watch the show and also sends their music group to perform a few songs at the show complete with their flag and dance group.
Over the past 7 years it has been an absolute blessing to be able to do this for the kids, see the looks on their faces when they get to perform with a live band, and hear the loudest applause and cheering coming from the Oak Grove kids in the audience. It's also great to see some performers grow as singers and players and continue to play as artists in the community and on TV contests such as The Voice, American Idol, and X-factor. Some artists include Alaina Blair (this year on American Idol), Lindsey Carrier (American Idol this year), Caylie Gregorio (American Idol & X-Factor), Cole Criske (The Voice this year) just to name a few.
To view some performances here's a list on YouTube and there are quite a few more posted on Facebook as well.
