The craftsmen in our Bend, Oregon custom shop just completed another stunning custom acoustic guitar. This Adirondack spruce and striped ebony concert body shape was designed by Breedlove dealer Moore Music. This custom acoustic guitar features an intricate “heron and water” themed mother of pearl inlay along the fretboard.
About Striped Ebony: Striped Macassar ebony coloration is nearly black, with brown streaks. Tonally, Macassar ebony is powerful, clear, and has a slightly dark tonality that lends extra power to bass response. Strong bass and lower mids. Clear, responsive highs and a slightly scooped midrange. Usually takes a slightly longer period of playing time to open up. Striped ebony is the rarest and most prized of the Macassar ebonies and features a white or tan background with high-contrast black striping. Strong, heavy, and hard, Macassar ebony has an average specific gravity of about 1.09, which means that it actually sinks in water. Learn more about the tonewoods.
About Adirondack Spruce: Adirondack spruce has been the choice of bluegrass pickers for decades, and seems to add power to any guitar design. If it’s loud you want, Adirondack is for you. Adirondack is even more dynamic than Sitka spruce, and has a higher ceiling for volume. You can strum an Adirondack-topped guitar aggressively without distorttion or loss of clarity. For the aggressive player who wants volume and clarity without distortion; the player or collector who wants the vibe of a pre-war guitar. Like Sitka, it has strong fundamentals and responds well to either a light or firm touch, but has higher resonance and exhibits a more complex overtone content. Adirondack is relatively heavy, with a high velocity of sound, and has the highest stiffness of all top woods across and along the grain. New-growth Adirondack tends to be wider-grained and more irregular in color and grain patterns, than vintage pre-war Adirondack. Creamy white in color. Learn more about the tonewoods.
The Concert Body Shape: The Concert is our most popular body shape, favored by players because it is well-balanced, compact, comfortable to play, and offers all the qualities of a great sounding guitar. It generates a wonderfully articulate range of tone with an ample low end that is never boomy, but always felt. The Concert works well when played fingerstyle, as vocal accompaniment, or at a full strum. Learn more about the body shapes.
