Custom Acoustic Guitar Feature: Sitka spruce – Indian rosewood Concerto

This stunning custom Concerto body shape acoustic guitar was recently completed here in the custom shop in Bend, Oregon. We build a tremendous number of guitars with East Indian Rosewood, but this back and side set is just remarkable! 

About the Concerto Body Shape: When we set out to create a guitar that would surpass the classic big body sound of the dreadnought,  we didn’t just want it to be loud. We sought to bring out more tonal complexity, and to offer a much more comfortable playing experience, too. Introducing the new Breedlove Concerto, a new guitar shape created to elicit more volume than a classic dreadnought, and more lush, complex tonal resonance in a comfortable body shape that feels just right. About Sitka Spruce: Sitka spruce is grown in the northwest, and has been the primary top wood for U.S.A. instruments for many decades. It is strong, light, and gives an extended harmonic content and nearly equals the power of Adirondack. Strong, focused tone with a solid fundamental — perfect for flatpicking styles. Usually takes a slightly longer period of playing time to open up. When compared with European spruce, Sitka delivers warmer, more fundamental sound, largely free of overtones. Read more.

About East Indian Rosewood: Indian rosewood has been the standard rosewood choice for decades. It is often associated with the great dreadnoughts, and is an amazingly neutral wood that takes its personality from the player. Well-balanced lows, mids, and highs make it a natural for many styles. Well-balanced lows, mids, and highs. Famous for rich basses and clear treble response. Slightly less dense with more even grain than Brazilian rosewood. Black-streaked wood with coloration that usually leans toward purplish brown, and then oxidizes to a rich brown color. Read more.
