This stunning new custom instrument was designed by and available at Hotlicks Guitar Shop in MD. The intricate dragon and additional fret marker inlays were based off of the designer’s tattoos. Additional custom elements include a sharp cutaway, Masterclass bloodwood binding, Abalone Top Purfling and it will rock when amplified using the LR Baggs Anthem system.
The Breedlove Dreadnought is slightly more rounded than traditional dreadnoughts, producing beautifully full, punchy, and articulate tones. The Dreadnought appeals to players inspired by the familiarity of a dreadnought, who are looking for nuance and richness from their instrument. The Breedlove Dreadnought projects well, so it excels in an ensemble, and yet retains the refinement needed for vocal accompaniment. Learn more about the Dreadnought body shape.
The back and sides tonewood of this custom is an amazing set of ziricote. Ziricote is similar visually to Brazilian rosewood, but with dark greys instead of warm browns and rich chocolates. Tonally it is similar to striped ebony, but brighter. The top tonewood is Bearclaw Sitka Spruce. Bearclaw has a shallow, cross-grain curl that seems to increase cross-grain stiffness. Many luthiers feel that it enhances the tone and sustain of spruce. Strong, focused tone with strong fundamental — perfect for flatpicking styles. Usually takes a slightly longer period of playing time to open up.
