About the Concerto Body Shape
When we set out to create a guitar that would surpass the classic big body sound of the dreadnought, we didn’t just want it to be loud. We sought to bring out more tonal complexity, and to offer a much more comfortable playing experience, too. Introducing the new Breedlove Concerto, a new guitar shape created to elicit more volume than a classic dreadnought, and more lush, complex tonal resonance in a comfortable body shape that feels just right. Loud, textured, and supremely satisfying. Learn more and watch video.
About Indian Rosewood
East Indian rosewood has been a favored back tonewood used in stringed instruments for centuries. Known for its efficient transmission of bass tones and bright high notes, it has been the preferred back and sides tonewood since worldwide government restrictions have limited the availability of Brazilian and Madagascar rosewoods. It is often associated with the great dreadnoughts as its projection is loud and clear. East Indian rosewood’s sound contrasts with the midrange of Honduran mahogany…rosewood emphasizing the bass and highs, mahogany most pronounced in the midrange. EI rosewood specific gravity is 0.83 compared with mahogany’s 0.59. EI rosewood’s weight in pounds per cubic feet of 52 contrasts with mahogany’s 37. There are significant differences in the musical characteristics of these two most popular guitar back tonewoods. Many artists will own two instruments – a rosewood and a mahogany – alternating depending on the musical situation. Learn more.
About Redwood
Redwood is a dark, beautiful top wood favored by fingerstyle players who appreciate clear upper harmonic content. Sinker redwood is a special type of redwood that comes from logs that were submerged in oxygen-free environments in the bottom of lakes or ocean waters, yielding darker, more striped, and often stiffer and lighter wood. Bold, punchy, crisp tones, with rich, strong overtones. Like a cross between spruce and cedar. Coloration can range from a light pinkish brown to a deep reddish brown. Learn more.
