MyMusicRx is the flagship program of the Children’s Cancer Association. The in-hospital music medicine program features bedside sing-a-longs led by trained music specialists, instrument and iPad lending from mobile music carts, and live concerts from international recording artists.
One of their fundraising activities is Bedstock. On December 1st, more than 30 artists, writers, and kids will be performing from their beds to show support for sick kids spending the holidays in hospital beds. “At CCA we are proud to have pioneered pediatric music medicine 20 years ago,” explains Regina Ellis, Founder and CEO of the Children’s Cancer Association (CCA). “Bedstock is a perfect expression of our passionate belief that joy matters and music heals. It’s a playful yet incredibly powerful way for artists and their fans to join us in making a difference in the lives of hospitalized children across the country.” This year features Dillon Francis, Jim James, The Decemberists, X Ambassadors and many more. “The Decemberists are long-time supporters of MyMusicRx and are proud to be participating in Bedstock this year,” says Chris Funk of The Decemberists and a CCA board member. “When I talk to bands about getting involved with MyMusicRx they instantly connect with the mission. They know how important music is to their own wellbeing and how positive a force it can be for a child stuck in a hospital bed for days and weeks at a time.”
