No Treble: Breedlove Bass Review

FROM WWW.NOTREBLE.COM

Breedlove Stringed Instruments has revamped their line of acoustic-electric bass guitars with three models including the Pursuit, the Solo, and the Studio basses.

Breedlove Pursuit Bass

The Pursuit is 32-inch scale bass built around the company’s Concert body shape that first appeared in 1992. The bass is built with a solid sitka spruce top and sapele laminate back and sides, but the lead feature of the bass is its Fishman ISYS+ electronics. The preamp is fitted with a USB port for interfacing with DAWs like GarageBand.

The Pursuit’s Breedlove Bridge Truss reduces tension on the bass’s sound board to allow the top to vibrate for more freely. Breedlove says this produces more sustain, balance, and clarity. Other features include a pinless bridge, a bone nut, and mini 15:1 chrome tuners. See full instrument profile here.

Breedlove Solo Bass

The Solo features a Jumbo body with a solid cedar top and nato neck. The bass is set apart with an additional side mounted sound hole that lets you hear the bass as you play it. It has a full 34-inch scale and is also fitted with the company’s pinless bridge and bridge truss. The pickup and preamp are part of an LR Baggs TCV electronics system. See full instrument profile here.

Breedlove Studio Bass

Breedlove’s Studio bass also features a jumbo body but differentiates itself from the Solo with a solid sitka spruce top. The bass is built with sapele laminate back and sides, a nato neck, rosewood fretboard, and a tonestone nut. See full instrument profile here.
