Pursuit Drednought Ebony Reviewed in American Songwriter Gear Guide

WRITTEN BY AMERICAN SONGWRITER NOVEMBER 19TH, 2014

Breedlove’s Pursuit series includes some wonderful guitars, such as the Dreadnought Ebony Acoustic-Electric. With a gorgeous java ebony laminate back and sides, an Adirondack spruce top, and a rosewood fretboard on a neck made of not-often-used nato, the guitar sounds and plays great. A bone nut and bone saddle contribute to the guitar’s balanced tone and even, uniformly-deteriorating sustain. Black binding, black and cream purfling and an abalone rosette set off the wood combination, and the pinless bridge is a nice touch in terms of both aesthetics and logic.

The Pursuit Dreadnought Ebony, designed in Oregon and crafted in China, is a high-quality, affordable alternative to more expensive guitars. With an onboard tuner, the guitar uses the Fishman ISYS system for its electronics, and has one of the coolest and most modern features out there today, a built-in USB port to interface with recording software, which is especially useful for quickly saving ideas. It’s hard to beat for the price and deserves a listen. Comes with a gig bag.
