Featured artist Alyssa Trahan’s Blog Takeover #3

For this episode of “Organic Treats & Tunes”, I put together a recipe inspired by my brand new single, “Ain’t Ever Goin’ Back”! This is the Ain’t Ever Goin’ Back (to Coffee) Matcha Latte! Matcha is one of my favorite things in the world. I love the flavor of it and it’s so versatile! You can use it in drinks, smoothies, when baking, you name it! Another thing I love is that it gives you a boost of energy with its caffeine, but you don’t get that crash feeling around 2pm like you do with coffee. I chose this recipe for my song “Ain’t Ever Goin’ Back” because I thought the energy from the caffeine in the matcha could represent the energy of the song. It’s powerful and strong, just like matcha! And of course, the idea of never going back to coffee, because I found something better! One really important tip I want to make sure you know if you want to try this recipe or any matcha recipe, is to use organic ceremonial grade matcha. There’s a huge difference in quality between ceremonial and baking grade. I personally like to get mine either online or at a natural food store. In addition to the caffeine content, matcha has been praised for having antioxidants, helping to prevent heart disease and even cancer, and encouraging weight loss since it speeds up your metabolism. Now, of course, I’m not a doctor or dietician, but I can tell you from personal experience, drinking matcha makes you feel good. It’s like your body thanks you for giving it so many health benefits! And I notice a definite difference in my metabolism when I drink it regularly. The flavor of matcha is like a really strong green tea. If it’s a little bitter for you, try adding more honey or vanilla extract! Once you get the balance to your taste, you will love it! If you’ve never tried matcha and are a little intimidated, don’t be! Think of it like green coffee! 🙂
